Founder Marty Walters started her career at the forefront of the American environmental protection industry, working in the field of hazardous waste just as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was adopting a plethora of new requirements to protect communities and natural resources from the byproducts of industry and development. Over the next several decades, she implemented programs to shape and respond to federal and state environmental laws, moving from industry into financial institutions. Ms. Walters developed underwriting standards for assets securing loans to manufacturers, infrastructure developers, and commercial real estate owners. She built teams in the United States, Central and South America and throughout the Asia Pacific region. Recovery Risk was formed to take the next step into climate change, using new tools to identify, measure, and manage climate environmental risks for companies, governments, and financial institutions.
Recovery Risk seamlessly integrates scientific, engineering, and governance tools to respond to environmental and climate risks. We plan for the recovery period after a loss - whether it's an extreme weather event, a hazmat incident, a financial default, and especially complex situations from multiple hazards. We provide support to local governments, companies, and financial institutions to prevent losses and manage risks on the road to recovery. My team works within each client’s governance structure to establish all the required elements for efficient recovery that is sensitive to life, safety, and financial health. We bring communications, strategic planning, data collection and management, insurance documentation, environmental management, and property condition assessment skills to the table. Emergencies and extreme weather events have evolved from lasting a matter of days to requiring weeks and months of intensive triage and risk management. We mobilize the required resources so that other critical functions are not compromised during response and recovery phases of an emergency. |
